ASC Daily Briefing — August 23, 2026

New Today

No new items today. See the Standing Compliance Reference for the items currently in effect.

This run covered the weekend gap since the August 21 briefing and surfaced nothing not already captured. Direct source checks: the Federal Register returned zero documents referencing “ambulatory surgical center” published on or after August 19, 2026. ASC Focus loaded cleanly this run — its most recent article is the HIPAA Biannual Update dated August 20, already captured in the August 21 briefing. AAAHC’s most recent post is an August 21 conference appearance, not a standards or policy change. QUAD A has posted nothing since July 31, 2026. No new CMS enforcement actions, deemed-status terminations, or accreditation standard announcements.

Deadline Watch — 8 Days Out

The CY 2027 OPPS/ASC Proposed Rule (CMS-1850-P) comment period closes Monday, August 31, 2026. This is the last full week to file. If you intend to comment on the proposed 2.4% ASC payment update, the ASC Covered Procedures List additions, Year 2 of the inpatient-only list phase-out, ASCQR measure changes, or the botulinum-toxin prior-authorization expansion, submit this week rather than planning to file on the deadline. ASCA has published customizable comment letter templates for members.
